Peerspirational Blogs

I have looked at a number of good blogs written by my peers, and there were two great and inspirational blogs that I noticed. The first blog I really liked was Nawreen's Blog. Knowing Nawreen, I know what kind of person she is and what kind of style she has in reading. I loved the way I could hear her "voice" throughout her blog post. Her "voice" was especially well portrayed throughout the poem in her post, which I thought was very well done.

Another enjoyable blog was Wolfe's and his post was about the book Water for Elephants. It really stuck out to me because of the way he could relate his experience to the main character, Jacob's, experience. On top of that, I thought it was very well written, because of the way he described the nursing homes. He also used quotations that emphasized the examples he was using. Overall his and Nawreen's blogs were really great ones, in two different but amazing ways.

Human Temptation

Recently starting The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins an eye grabbing moment for me was when Gale brought up the idea of leaving to Katniss. I could imagine Katniss and Gale leaving the district, but Katniss being the strong character that she is, can’t. Human temptation plays a role in this idea, because it is in our nature to want more than we have. Here Katniss doesn’t have much, but something she does have is the possibility of going into the hunger games. However, the most important thing to Katniss that she has, is her sister Prim, and because of that she is able to overcome the temptation of leaving.

While thinking about what Gale had to say, Katniss thinks of how she couldn’t leave Prim, who is “the only person in the world she is certain she loves” (p10). Later on when they are together you can also see the relationship when Prim makes her laugh “the kind [of laugh] only Prim can draw out of her” (p16). The strong protections she feels for Prim is very strongly showed when she volunteers as a tribute to go to the hunger games. She is sacrificing herself for Prim, and is leaving her but to protect her.
